Starting today you can switch your free Minecraft server at mcfreehost into cracked mode with a single click. That lets friends without a purchased (premium) Minecraft account join too – no Aternos detours, no hand-built plugin setups.
What cracked mode does
Until now, only players with a real Mojang account could join your server. Cracked mode turns the online check off (online-mode=false) and opens the server to non-premium Java players.
To stop anyone logging in under someone else's name, mcfreehost automatically installs a login plugin when you enable it: cracked players set a password with /register on first join, while Bedrock and premium players still get in without a password.
| Player type | Login |
|---|---|
| Bedrock (mobile, console) | Automatic – no password |
| Premium Java | Automatic – no password |
| Cracked / non-premium Java | Once /register, then /login |
Enabled in one click
There is nothing to configure by hand: open the "Allow cracked / non-premium players" tab in the server panel, type your server name to confirm and enable – the server handles the rest (plugin install, hardening, restart) on its own.
If your server runs a version that is too new, the panel tells you first: on Paper, cracked mode works up to Minecraft 1.21.1; for modern versions (up to 26.2) use a Fabric server.
