Which package fits our group?
The entry package ships 12 GB RAM for up to 20 players. With 16 GB you get 40 slots — for old worlds or many mods, go for the bigger one right away.
How do mods work in Conan Exiles?
Steam Workshop mods are fully supported: enter the mod IDs in the server configuration and your fellow players download them automatically on connect.
Do our thralls keep working while we are offline?
Yes — thralls and all NPCs run entirely on the server. Your base is managed and defended around the clock, even when none of you are online.
PvP or PvE — do we have to commit?
You choose at setup: PvP (bases destructible), PvE (bases safe) or PvE-Conflict (PvP only at set times). Switching works via a server restart.
How fast are we ready to play?
Typical initial setup: about 5 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer. Server name, password, player limit and all Server.ini settings are configured comfortably in the control panel.
On connect I get "incompatible version" or "timeout" — what now?
The server always runs the current official Enhanced build (auto-update) — the message almost always means your game client is outdated. Quit the game, wait for the Steam update (verify file integrity if needed), select "None" under Betas and compare the revision number in the main menu. Once client and server match, the join works immediately.
Do I get a subdomain for my server?
Every mcfreehost server ships with its own address such as yourserver.mc.mcfreehost.com right from the start. Rename it anytime from the dashboard — no ticket required.
What do add-ons like bots and databases cost?
Monitoring and database add-ons — Uptime Kuma, MariaDB, phpMyAdmin, Game Server Watcher — never carry a surcharge. For music and chat bots, the first slot you activate is included; every additional bot is billed on top, and the dashboard shows the exact cost before you switch it on.
How long until I can actually play?

Am I locked into a long-term contract?
No — you are on a subscription that renews monthly, and you can cancel it from the dashboard whenever you like; the same goes for turning off automatic renewal.
Are the servers located in Germany?
Yes. All game servers run in German data centres (Falkenstein and Limburg) connected to the major German exchanges — low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.

For one or two friends on a single evening self-hosting is often fine — for a persistent world, renting pays off.
