Does horde night really have to come every 7 days?
No, that is just the default. Set the rhythm freely in the dashboard — from daily to every 28 days, depending on how much stress your group can take.
How much disk space does our world need?
Depending on map size, 2-8 GB — the storage space provided covers that comfortably.
Which package fits our group size?
Up to 4 players ride comfortably on 8 GB RAM. For bigger groups and large worlds we recommend 12 GB.
Do overhaul mods like Darkness Falls work?
Yes — upload mods from Nexus Mods via the file manager. Remember: everyone needs the same mods to join.
Can strangers just join our server?
Not if you don't want them to: set a server password in the dashboard and only invited players get in.
How do we protect our progress before a wipe?
Manual backups and schedules live in the dashboard. For an extra local copy, pull the savegame files from the Saves folder via the file manager — always worth it before big changes.
Do I get a subdomain for my server?
Every mcfreehost server ships with its own address such as yourserver.mc.mcfreehost.com right from the start. Rename it anytime from the dashboard — no ticket required.
What do add-ons like bots and databases cost?
Monitoring and database add-ons — Uptime Kuma, MariaDB, phpMyAdmin, Game Server Watcher — never carry a surcharge. For music and chat bots, the first slot you activate is included; every additional bot is billed on top, and the dashboard shows the exact cost before you switch it on.
How long until I can actually play?
Typical initial setup: about 15 minutes. Queues or large installations can take longer. Larger Steam installs can take a bit longer depending on the game.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
No — you are on a subscription that renews monthly, and you can cancel it from the dashboard whenever you like; the same goes for turning off automatic renewal.
Are the servers located in Germany?
Yes. All game servers run in German data centres (Falkenstein and Limburg) connected to the major German exchanges — low pings for players across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and solid latency for the rest of Europe.
