What is the difference between Java Edition and Bedrock Edition?
Java Edition runs exclusively on PC (Windows, Mac, Linux) and supports mods and plugins via Paper, Forge, or Fabric. Bedrock Edition runs on consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch), mobile devices (iOS, Android), and Windows 10/11 — and allows Cross-Play between all these platforms on one server.
What is Cross-Play and how does it work?
Cross-Play means players from different platforms can play together on the same server. On a Bedrock server, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, iOS, Android, and Windows players can all connect simultaneously — just enter the server address and play. No additional configuration is required.
What is the difference between BDS and PocketMine?
BDS (Bedrock Dedicated Server) is the official server software from Mojang and supports all native Minecraft features and add-ons. It is automatically updated with new Minecraft versions. PocketMine is a community server software with plugin support (similar to Paper for Java), but may have a short compatibility window after major Mojang updates.
Which devices run Bedrock Edition?
Minecraft Bedrock Edition runs on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and Windows 10/11 (Microsoft Store). PC players using the Java Edition launcher use a separate Java server.
How do mobile and console players connect?
In Minecraft Bedrock, open the "Play" menu and select "Add Server". Enter your server address (e.g. my-server.game-serverhosting.de) and the Bedrock port. On Xbox and PlayStation you will find this option under "Friends" or "Servers".
How long does Bedrock server installation take?
Your Minecraft Bedrock server is typically online and ready within 1–3 minutes automatically. BDS servers start quickly as only the official server binary needs to be downloaded.
Do I get my own subdomain?
Yes. Every server includes a subdomain like my-server.game-serverhosting.de, and you can change it anytime in the dashboard.
